QUOTE:
“Hold on to the Ideals that Funakoshi Sensei brought us and keep the technical expertise that Nakayama Sensei introduced to us…and train in the true spirit of Karate-do”
Dingman Sensei began his journey in Karate after looking for a Judo club to train at. His brother in law suggested a class at the local Army Navy....In Karate.  He started teaching at 6th Kyu at his own club. Dingman Sensei joined the JKA under the tutelage of Yotaka Yaguchi Sensei, recognized as one of the best coaches the JKA ever produced. It was under Yaguchi Sensei that Dingman Sensei learned the art of teaching and really got involved in JKA Karate.

Dingman Sensei hosted Nakayama Sensei at the JKA of Manitoba. The visit was very inspirational and Dingman Sensei was asked to take his knowledge of Karate and help build the JKA westward across the prairies and into British Columbia. Thus began a multi-decade journey in spreading the JKA and the organization he was a member of under Yaguchi Sensei across western Canada. Dingman Sensei touched the training of many Karate-ka as he helped spread JKA Karate to those provinces.
Over a Karate career that spans almost 50 years the one thing that Dingman Sensei is the most proud of is the number of people his Karate has touched and the impact he has had in Winnipeg’s Karate. It can truly be said that at least half of the black belts created in Manitoba can trace their lineage to Dingman Sensei and his Dojo.
Dingman Sensei went on to train under some of the best JKA instructors that the organization ever produced. The early JKA of Manitoba also hosted many of the great instructors, such as Tanaka Sensei and the then Chief instructor of the Japan Karate Association World Federation himself, Master Nakayama.

Dingman Sensei has produced many great Karate practitioners including provincial champions, National champions and world Champions and the only Canadian Karate student to graduate from the esteemed JKA instructor training program. He influenced Karate across western Canada and is very well known across Canada and the United States for his passion and knowledge of Karate. He is also well known internationally because of his students and the passion he imparted to them.
